custom theme for my website tokyowalls.com. The goal is to refresh the design, improve usability, and expand functionality while reusing as much of the existing content as possible.
Expected budget: About 200USD for the project.
Requirements:
The freelancer will be provided with detailed specifications and mockup screens to follow for the design (focused on desktop computers).
# Compatibility: The theme must work seamlessly with the Block Editor (Gutenberg), Elementor, and WooCommerce. The theme and functions must be Wordpress and Woocommerce compliant so when Wordpress and Woocommerce frameworks are updated, the theme and all functions still work.
# Content Preservation: Existing content should be preserved and adapted, not destroyed. Adjustments to fit news sections, layout, and styling are welcome.
# Content Structure: The website content will be remodeled into 5 main categories, fed via static pages, posts, and products.
# Multilingual Support: The theme must support English and Japanese.
The website must support two languages, implemented without relying on WordPress plugins.
Translation will be handled on my side, but static pages, posts, and products must allow Japanese versions. For WooCommerce products, translations must be embedded in the same product with synchronized stock management.
# Products “Coming Soon” Option: I need the ability to mark products as “Coming Soon”, so they are visible but cannot be purchased until ready. The “Coming Soon” message will appear in the usual “add to cart” button however it is not possible to cart the product.
# Design: I have prepared mockup screens for the desktop compatible layout.
Additionally, the website must also be fully compatible with smartphones, ensuring a seamless experience across devices.
It is essential that the freelancer conducts quality checks against the specifications before requesting feedback.
Adjustments can be proposed if they improve accessibility for visitors or address technical challenges effectively.
The menus includes subtle effects (preferably CSS-only, minimal JS).
# One static page will require the setup of a form to send email to a predefined email address (contact form).
# Woocommerce will have to be setup to send automatic email confirmation for every order.
# Timeline & Communication:
The project must be completed within about 2 weeks.
Periodic communication is required to validate each step of the process before putting anything to production, including:
Design (menus, product page, cart, etc.)
Migration strategy to minimize downtime and ensure a smooth transition.
