INVESTIGATION OF DEVELOPED GLASS COMPOSITES FOR DIFFERENT NUCLEAR AND RADIATION APPLICATIONS
تفاصيل العمل
In this study, three glass systems with 15 glass samples were investigated and prepared by the melting quench method. Part 1 consist of Five glasses with the composition of 20Na2CO3– 15 SiO2 - 5NiO - (60-x)H3BO3- xBaCO3 glass system where (x = 0,5,10, 20, 30) Part 2 contains Five glasses with the composition of 20 Na2O - 10 SiO2 - 1 NiO – 2 P2O5- (67-x) B2O3 - x BaO where (x = 0, 2, 5, 8 and 12 mol%). Part 3 contains Five glasses with the composition of 20SiO2–20Na2CO3–2ZnO–(58−x) H3BO3–(x)Yb2O3, x=0, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, and 0.1% XRD confirmed the amorphous nature for all samples for the three parts. At various photon energies from 0.015–15 MeV, shielding parameters like MAC, Zeff, HVL, and the exposure buildup factors EBF were measured for 10 samples of the two parts, one and two. According to the results, this compositions of both parts are recommended as shielding material. Optimum conditions were investigated for part 3 samples, and based on conclusive findings, the prepared glass material is thought to possess highly favorable characteristics for detecting radiation in diverse applications.
