Project Overview The goal of the project was to transform raw sales data into actionable insights. I worked with two key datasets: Order Details: This dataset included detailed information about each order, such as product IDs, quantities, and prices. Orders: This dataset contained overarching order information, including order IDs, customer details, and order dates. Data Preparation The first step was to clean and preprocess the data. This involved: Removing duplicates and handling missing values. Normalizing data formats for consistency. Merging the two datasets to create a comprehensive view of the sales transactions. Key Metrics and Insights With the data prepared, I focused on extracting key metrics that would be valuable to the business. Some of the critical metrics included: Total Sales: Calculated the total revenue generated over a specific period. Order Volume: Analyzed the number of orders placed daily, weekly, and monthly. Top-Selling Products: Identified products with the highest sales volume. Customer Segmentation: Grouped customers based on their purchasing behavior and order frequency. Dashboard Design For the dashboard, I used Power BI tool. The dashboard was designed to be intuitive and interactive, allowing stakeholders to drill down into specific data points. Key features included: Sales Overview: A high-level view of total sales and order volume over time. Product Performance: Visualizations highlighting top-selling products and categories. Customer Insights: Segmentation analysis showing customer demographics and purchasing patterns. Geographical Sales Distribution: Maps displaying sales performance across different regions. Business Impact The e-commerce sales dashboard provided several benefits: Enhanced Decision-Making: Stakeholders could quickly identify trends and make informed decisions. Improved Marketing Strategies: Insights into top-selling products and customer behavior helped tailor marketing campaigns. Operational Efficiency: Identifying peak sales periods allowed for better inventory management and resource allocation. Conclusion Creating this e-commerce sales dashboard was a rewarding experience that showcased my ability to transform data into meaningful insights. It reinforced the importance of data visualization in driving business success and highlighted the value a data analyst brings to the table.
